Autonomous DeFi Copilots: Why Intent-Based Execution Needs Verifiable Guardrails
"Reflections from architecting Mantelium on Mantle Network. Why automated yield copilots must prioritize non-custodial simulation before execution."

- ↳Fork-based EVM transaction pre-simulation using Foundry and Anvil
- ↳Deterministic slippage guardrails and liquidation threshold validation
- ↳Natural language intent translation into gas-efficient Wagmi call batches
The intersection of Large Language Models and decentralized finance is fraught with peril. When money is on the line, an AI model cannot merely 'suggest' transactions. It must mathematically prove that its proposed execution satisfies hard constraint boundaries.
Simulation Before Signing
With Mantelium, we built a strict separation of concerns. Claude 3.5 is tasked exclusively with analyzing portfolio distributions, scanning on-chain yield opportunities across Mantle protocols, and proposing abstract rebalancing plans.
Before any transaction payload reaches the user's wallet, our backend runs a full state simulation against a local Anvil fork. If slippage exceeds 0.5% or health factors degrade by any margin, the execution is rejected before ever hitting RPC nodes.
Building for Mantle's Modular Rollup Architecture
Mantle Network's modular DA layer enables hyper-frequent state updates at negligible cost. This allows Mantelium to stream position health checks every 4 seconds without generating prohibitive node infrastructure expenses.
